The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (guest host Joan Rivers) September 11 1984

Here is a great and very early appearance of Soleil on the Tonight Show.

This episode was aired on September 11 1984 and was guesthosted by Joan Rivers, which in this case did the interview with Soleil.

Other guests this same episode included: Kate Jackson, Billy Dee Williams and Selma Diamond.

a few fun things to note:

- Soleil had just turned 8 roughly a month earlier on august 6th.
- At the time of the interview about 6 eps. of Punky Brewster had been taped (according to Soleil that is)
- This show was from tuesday the 11th and Punky Brewster started that same week on sunday the 16th.

an almost complete transcript of this interview is posted below as a downloadable .doc file

NBC All Star Hour 1984

as i wil do on this blog is share pictures and or video material of Soleil Moon Frye herself in whatever TV appearances she has been in during the age of 8 to 12 , so basically anything from her "Punky Brewster" era.

with that out of the way i will start off this blog with:

THE NBC ALL STAR HOUR 1984:

A 1 hour celebration show that aired on NBC on Sep. 17 1984.
This special previewed the new and already existing shows for the '84/'85 NBC television season, and has many people in it that are still known today...
one of which of course is Soleil Moon Frye: she and George Gaynes made an appearance in this to promote/preview "Punky Brewster"

The Main concept of Soleil's appearance is her and George Gaynes talking on stage a little bit , followed by a video preview of the Punky Brewster pilot episode , going back to finish the conversation on stage , afterwards she is seen briefly in the audiance happily after a guy on stage used the name "Punky Brewster" in a sentence during a song.
Lastly, she is briefly shown during the end credits.

i made a transscript of the conversation on stage , but due to the audio having the talking part coming in mostly from the right side and considering the source material is from a little over 25 years old, i could't hear/understand some of what was being said , but i'll post it anyway so you get a clue of what was going on..

For now, all i will share is pictures from the appearance and might follow that up later with the actual video material (of just her and george's appearances though)

All images below are in correct order , but i didn't include the preview screen that comes on when they preview "Punky Brewster" itself , because that would be pointless to make screenshots of.

The Transcription of the Interview:
